Drying after carpet cleaning
Most carpets are ready for light use once the pile feels cool and dry. Montreal humidity, the pad underneath, and wool all change the clock.

Keep it practical
What is worth doing.
Heat alone does not finish the job. Air, time, and what you put back on the carpet decide whether the pile stays even.
All care notesMove air across the room. Open a window and a door on another side when the weather allows. Aim a fan along the carpet so the pile can give up moisture, rather than pinning one wet patch in place.
Judge the pile, not the clock. Lightly soiled synthetic carpet often feels dry in a few hours. Wool, a thick pad, and a humid apartment can take into the next day. Cool and damp under your hand means it is still wet.
Keep wood and metal off damp fibre. Legs can leave a stain or a rust mark if they sit on a damp carpet. Leave furniture up on tabs, or wait. Walk the path lightly until the pile looks even.
Mark a spot that returns. A ring that reappears while the carpet dries is moisture rising from below the face fibre. More water usually spreads it. Note the spot and ask us to look again.
